After the fish slice wore out and was rather outdated, Iron Pooma aeronautical engineering decided that it was time to make a new more advance, more reliable, higher performance and more controllable design. This is the one winch to rule them all. With the engine from the fish slice sitting in storage we decided to use that. The drum was still good nick so we decided to use that as well. But for the first time in Grecet history we realised that this project would really have to set new standards so we actually went out and bought new parts! no I am not making this up, we did... well Snauss did actually buy some parts.

With the mix of new parts,(possibly) good welding, and erm small amounts of bodging a great project was born.

Finally a year later Grecet get to testing the winch

After Snauss texting Vugel and asking numerous questions about the winch and if we have any spares as Snauss's dad has robbed a load of parts for his lawnmower but then not actually used them and then resulting in them being lost, we decide its time to get Zagi launching. The date is set to get the winch going so Vugel goes round to Snauss's and spends a good half hour trying to get the engine to work, after numerous carb problems the engine is almost working good enough to use. We pack the new GTi full of winch and tools and head off up the gliding club to test it out. After a few failed attempts we removed the retarded drag shoot that was opening when it shouldn't do and got some very good launches but the engine was playing up again so we packed in for the night. It works though and does so VERY well. If only the bloody Suffolk engines zenith carbs were more reliable. maybe I need to strip the engine apart and check the points I shall see. As you can see from the photo below its a tiny bit smaller than the real winch at the gliding club
