Bue Flame

Information

It was a cold, dark night. The smoke drifting from the Team Grecet department of the Vugel Lab was not like any smoke ever seen before. It drifted low across the ground like some kind of fog. Nobody knew what colour it was, because everything was still black and white in those days. So it looked like fog. But it wasn't.

A storm blew over the lab and there was much thunder, and much lightning. There was lightning because it was a storm. The lightning struck a radio tower, and the electricity ignited the fog beneath it. The flames advanced back up the stream of fog towards the Vugel Lab, destroying everything in its path. Vugel, sitting in the laboratory, noticed the advancing wall of fire, and noticed that the smoke was coming from his latest liquid creation. He realised that he must protect the stuff that could be the next great Grecet product.

He placed some of the liquid into a small bottle marked "FREE SAMPLE" and put it in his pocket, so there would be a trace of his invention remaining, in case the rest of it caught fire. He grabbed a hoover and aimed it at the flame stream, and with a great electric hum and hiss the escaping gas trail slowly began to drift its way back into the Vugel Lab, into the hoover, taking the flames with it.

When the smoke had all been collected, there remained nothing but the free sample of liquid. As soon as he turned the hoover off, he realised that nothing was going to stop the flames inside it burning (but luckily the hoover was indestructible and airtight).

Yet even he did not know what the colour of the liquid was until the next day, when colour television was invented, and he could watch video footage of the incident. The flames, along with the liquid and its smoke, were blue. Yet this was not just any blue. It was a blue that seemed like its name should be misspelt.

It was bue.

Years passed before a descendant of Vugel's, who also happened to be names Vugel, acquired a small bicycle and a chainsaw engine, and began embarking on a project which would harness the power of.... the bue flame...
