ABOUT TEAM GRECET RACINGTeam Grecet racing was first formed in the summer of 2001, as a division of the Grecet International company. It all started when me, Professor Vugel, who i will refer to as vugel as i can't be bothered to type the whole thing all the time, and me cousin wanted to build a go-kart. Whilst doing some work for Poulton Portables a shed building company in Essex i came across a suffolk 'super colt' cylinder lawn mower in the local tidy tip next to the workshop. I instantly bought it for £5 and after two weeks of trying to get it going with a damaged mixture screw i went back to work in dorset for another two weeks. just my luck i found another colt at the tip and cunningly "borrowed" the mixture screw from that. After getting the engine home it was decided to build a go-kart with it and Team Grecet developed from there onwards. Over the last five years Team Grecet has come along way and after many cunning contraptions ranging from scooters, buggies, winches, sledges it has come to a bit of a standstill with Ant only around in uni breaks but he often has work to do then. More focus is now on the new side of Grecet. With Vugel from now on referred to as Jules (will give you some kind of idea when each project was written up) and custom bikes being built whenever time permits, Iron Puma Customs was formed. MEMBERS + Friends: Jules (Professor Vugel) - Designer, Fabricator, Mechanic, Painter, test pilot Ant (Dr Snauss) - Design engineer, electrician and secondary test pilot (incase Vugel dies) Muzz (Apprentice Muzz) - Apprentice mechanic and bodger Gamble the God - Godlike person who had the answer to everything John Sheppard - Great friend of Grecet Racing LOCATION After learning basic tricks of milling and turning at the Queensbury school tech department, moving on to Barnfield tech centre for a year where I learnt a lot about machining metal to now working for a multinational canning company in MK with access to various basic engineering tools that i cant afford or fit into my garage. With the IPC workshop consisting of a fold out workbench in the corner of Jule's garage with a vice clamped to it, it was high time to sort it out and get some proper working space. So autumn 2005 resulted in clearing all the shit out of the garage measuring how much space I would have left with a car in the garage and making a big work bench to take up the rest of the room. Fitting nice 3/4" plywood work surfaces and lots of storage space under and on the benches there was even room for a small pillar drill, linisher and an offhand grinder as well as a good size vice with rotatable head. Now I could get down to some serious engineering. GLOSSARY OF TERMS Click here to find out what all our old sayings meant as i'm sure you will need to as we say some pretty random crap sometimes.. ;)
